BD CopyCulture Den Bosch

BD CopyCulture got copied to the Ruby Soho Gallery in Den Bosch, Netherlands. Through literally copying, CopyCulture offers the opportunity to discover and discuss what is a copy and what is an original.

From the 31st of May through the 6th of July 2024, Ruby Soho was transformed into a graphic workshop where visitors can get started with the purely analogue process of cutting, pasting, reusing and copying Büro Destruct’s existing designs.

Through the centuries and generations, knowledge and work have been passed on, copied, refined and further developed. Also the graphic designs of Büro Destruct were sometimes brutally, sometimes cleverly copied. Visitors now have the opportunity to use this visual language from Büro Destruct and create their own work of art with it. Without infringing copyright and without the chance of being sued.

By remixing and copying on the copier, the complex and multifaceted world of copying is discussed, ranging from art and culture to AI technology and ethics. To delve deeper into the work and copy, there was a lecture at the Willem II Café on Tuesday evening 4th of June 2024. On the occasion of CopyCulture, Büro Destruct presented their work and entered into a conversation with graphic designers Peter Korsman (Autograph) and Casper Herselman (Ruby Soho, Attak). Afterwards, they talked to illustrator and painter Frederique Matti and artist Vincent de Boer about copying and AI.
