Having Büro Destruct both at home and at the gallery during the days preceding the launch of their show and of their book, BD Origin was quite mythical. We were surrounded for a week by six testosterone-filled guys who brimmed with undiluted energy. They had reproduced out of cardboard, down to the littlest detail, their desks from their office in Bern. Everything was there, from their second-generation iPods, slippers, pretzels, coffee mugs and glasses to the chairs, plugs and computers. The exhibition also included sculptures, paintings and prints.
The show ended with «Art Attack», an almost ritualistic, destructive performance where anyone present could jump and dance on the cardboard desks till just an insignificant pile of cardboard was left at one end of the gallery.
Art is a commentary on ourselves and BD Origin reflects this through its pure, unbridled creativity. It reveals a precise, singular and rousing moment of their careers.
